End of Term - Milestone Projects Review
Objectified Response:
I find the first project of the semester in any class to be incredibly overwhelming so the biggest challenge for this was getting over myself and not stressing out about it. I enjoyed the quick gratification turn around for this project bcuz this class is the only studio class I've taken since everything went online. This class was really validating in that regard because I had felt really detached from my art practice for 10 months prior.
Mesh Mashup:
Where it started:
Finished lewk in Rhino:
I liked the evolutionary process of this project that came with working in Mesh Mixer and then Rhino.
I had used blender before in MADT and really enjoyed sculpting and working with lights so I got to play with that in Mesh Mixer and then in Rhino.
Papercraft:
I felt super defeated at the beginning of this project because I had a hard time getting started with figuring out objects of significance and then translating those into Rhino.
The biggest challenge I had with the final design was I had taken my vase panel and stretched it out in one direction to fit the page template and did not realize till the gluing stage how this impacted my design. Note for next time STRETCH IN ALL DIRECTIONS!!! I'm really happy with how my vase and leaves turned out. 10/10 very tedious yet satisfying experience with this project. Also probably lost a few brain cells from the rubber cement fumes.
Hybrid 3D Model:
Evolution of prototypes:
Final:
Biggest take away from this project: ALWAYS make sure you have a closed form before doing boolean union.
